Founded in 2011 by partners Juancarlos Fernandez and Jarrod Denton, Signum Architecture is well-known in the California wine country and beyond for design that embodies an authentic response to the land while pushing the boundaries of architectural expression. The firm’s approach to sustainability is naturally derived, resulting in projects that are simultaneously inspired by their clients’ vision and driven by the dictates of the land.
Over 15 years of design practice, the partners have built an inclusive studio culture that encourages curiosity and engagement, while maintaining a rigorous design process and building an impressive portfolio of built work, specializing in custom residential, winery and hospitality design. Maintaining a boutique scale enables the partners to dedicate themselves to every project, supported by a team of intelligent, inquisitive thinkers.
Signum, which in Latin means “design,” represents an identity that transcends any particular architectural style, symbolizes the firm’s accumulated knowledge and experience, and acknowledges that each of its projects is the work of a symbiotic team, rather than any one individual. Like sustainable architecture, sustainable businesses are built to last. The goal is that both the firm, and its projects, live on successfully beyond the tenure of the founding partners.
