May Sung

May Sung AIA , as the founder of SUBU Design Architecture, has taken a leading role in fire resiliency efforts, particularly in Pacific Palisades since she was personally affected by the Palisades Fire on January 7th, 2025. This leadership is demonstrated through her professional and volunteer work.

Collaborative and Educational Initiatives
May Sung AIA has volunteered to lead a series of webinars focused on fire resiliency standards per Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) and insurability of rebuild. Her involvement in these educational efforts aims to inform the public about best practices in building and design to withstand wildfires.
She also serves as a neighborhood representative for the Alphabets and is on the steering committee of Team Palisades, where she is leading the rebuild effort. This hands-on community work demonstrates her commitment to helping those affected by recent fires.

Innovative Design & Rebuild Efforts
SUBU Design Architecture is a participant in the Case Study 2.0 initiative, a collaborative program that brings together over 40 architecture firms. The goal is to create a portfolio of pre-approved, fire-resistant, and design-forward homes to help communities rebuild after devastating wildfires. This initiative streamlines the rebuilding process by providing homeowners with a catalog of high-quality, resilient home designs.
Furthermore, May Sung AIA, as a member of the Design Leadership Network (DLN), is involved in the **New California Classics** initiative. This project addresses the future of design in response to the increasing threat of wildfires, seeking to develop innovative and resilient architectural solutions for the region.
